Yasmin studies Political Science with a double minor in History and Sociology. Interesting facts about her: she’s a Buzzfeed enthusiast, is addicted to peanut butter, and has profound interest in human rights, migrant issues, gender equality, and African cultural and political issues

Jessica Farber: writer; contributing editor

Jessica is a first-year (likely) International Development Studies major from Montclair, New Jersey. She is interested in global health, Hispanic studies, and journalism. In her free time, she likes to do yoga, run, ski, cook, and swim.

Majoring International Development and Political Science, minoring in French, Rennie’s interests include international relations and (sustainable!) development, languages, and reading and writing.  She also loves horseback riding!

Emily Southey: writer; copy editor

Emily is in her third year at McGill. She is pursuing Honours in History and minoring in English (Cultural Studies). This is Emily’s first year with JHR and she’s loving it! Emily helps out with the newspaper, writing and editing articles, as well as with the events. She love traveling, baking, yoga, running, and studying history.

Jessica Newfield: co-editor-in-chief (’13-’14)

Majoring in Political Science, double minoring in International Development and Hispanic Studies, Jessica has a strong academic and personal interest in human rights issues. She has been writing and editing for JHR for two years. Jessica plans to live in South America after university to research and work on indigenous-led land-rights and resource-management projects in areas affected by extractive industries. Fun facts: she likes languages, the Newsroom, concert-going, and arepas.
